The Flight Gear Flight Simulator project is a free, open-source, multi-platform, cooperative flight sim development project. Source code for the entire project is available and licensed under the GPL. The Flight Gear project is working to create a sophisticated flight simulator framework for the development and pursuit of interesting flight simulator ideas. We are developing a good basic sim that can be expanded and improved upon by anyone interested in contributing.

This release fixes support for 16-bit color depth. The
specifications for a wide range of aircraft were updated. Three
new aircraft were added: the Cessna Citation-II (wip), Beech
1900D, and DHC-2 Beaver (on floats). There are fixes for OS-
specific code on FreeBSD, OS X, and MSVC, fixes for
compilation issues with GCC 2.96 and GCC 4.0, and many other
minor updates and bugfixes. There were some improvements
with realism. Limited X-Plane datafile compatibility was added.

configuration updates. The scenery data was updated and
extended, including the addition of radio towers. There is

ups.

This is a development release. The 3D cockpit
support has been enhanced to include support for
fully animated and clickable 3D objects. The
out-the-window visuals have been improved with
runway and taxiway lighting. Aircraft modeling has
also improved with the addition of models for the
vacuum, pitot-static, and electical systems. Other
enhancements include localization support for
menus and command line option help and support for
additional joysticks "out of the box". This
release requires plib 1.6.0, SimGear 0.3.0, and
the 0.9.0 release of the FlightGear base package.
